Worming Tablets For Dogs

Why worming your Dog could be the most important thing you do to keep your dog safe…

Dog Flea, Worm, and Tick prevention is incredibly important because dogs tend to attract or ingest parasites. Parasites don’t just cause skin and coat problems but could also have detrimental effects on your dog’s heart, blood, gut, and eye health. Generally, there are two types of parasites to watch out for:

External Parasites

For dogs, the most common external parasites are fleas and ticks. These are not only itchy but could lead to several potentially life-threatening diseases, including Lyme disease, tick paralysis, and ehrlichiosis. Additionally, when infestations are severe, dogs could suffer from anaemia.

External parasites are generally treated with pest medications. These are tablets or chewable medicated treats that dogs ingest to fight ticks and fleas from within. There are also topical flea and tick control products as well as collars that repel the same external parasites.

Internal Parasites

Internal parasites, on the other hand, live within the body where they can affect several organs. Among the most common ones are hookworms, roundworms, tapeworms, and whipworms, which are generally ingested from their environment. Heartworms are also fairly common but are transmitted through mosquito bites.

Generally, adult dogs should be wormed once every three months while puppies are wormed more often depending on their age. This can be done by giving them their vet-recommended dose of worming tablets for dogs. Alternatively, you can opt for dog flea and worm treatment combined in a single product.

Which worming treatment is right for me?

There is no wrong or right answer… you can treat both internal and external parasites by using a dog wormer and flea treatment in one. Or, you can choose solutions for specific parasites, such as specific Flea treatment. The right parasite prevention or treatment method depends on your dog’s case and their environment. As always, your vet is the best person to speak to in regards to your options and what is best for your dog.
